“I laughed, I cried” was the consensus among the audience at the private screening for the feature film Saturday.  Among those who attended the private cast/crew screening was Director and Acting Instructor Kevin McCormick who praised the film saying “I felt so engaged through every moment, so touched by the story. Oh for the power of art and a good director.” Although he praised all the actors for their performance he singled out Laetitia Villetorte (a former student of his) as being “excellent”.

Saturday wraps post! Cast and crew screening is set for December 10th, 2009 at the NFB theatre in Downtown Toronto. A huge shout out to all who were instrumental in the making of this little film with a big heart!

August 17th

Executive Producer Michael Lambermont of Alter Ego comes on board for colour correction services for the indie feature Saturday.  “I’m very lucky to have Alter Ego working with us. Michael is extremely supportive and colour technician Andrew Hunter is a dedicated team player. I am very grateful to have both of them” Says director Alan Powell.

May 22nd

After several test screenings Saturday is picture locked! Colour correction, sound design and film score now begin. Huge thanks go out to Perry Sheppard for his commitment to the project and assisting with the first cut (it’s always the deepest ;p), Picture Editor Jeremy Lalonde for his talent and input on the second and fine cuts. An amazing huge THANK YOU to Stewart Horsley for taking me and the project under his wing and Rogue Editorial (www.rogueedit.com) for their amazing facilities. Onwards!

May 20th

Saturday secures sound design services with award-winning post house ImagesInSound. “this is a very happy day.” Proclaims Powell, director of the feature film. “Brian Eimer has worked on every project I’ve done since starting Facilitator Films in 2005 and I’m so glad and privileged to have his talents once again on this project.”

January 27th

Saturday wraps principal photography. Thanks to cast and crew for a speedy, professional shoot (9 very cold nights).

January 5th, 2009

Pre-production starts on the feature film Saturday. A co-production between Night Time Pictures and Facilitator Films. Written and Directed by Alan Powell. Leading the seasoned cast is Gemini Nominated actor Carlos Diaz. Best known for his role as Looch in the TV series, Rent-A-Goalie, which has been nominated for several Gemini’s since premiering on Showcase in 2006. Also starring is Genie Nominated actor Chris Owens best known for his reoccurring role as Agent Spender in the X-Files, Gina Clayton from the TV series Odyssey 5, Maria Vacratsis from Rent-A-Goalie and several appearances on Degrassi: The Next Generation, Tony Nappo whose film credits include; Saw IV and Saw V, Four Brothers (with Mark Whalberg) and countless TV appearances and critically acclaimed playwright and Dora-Award winning actor Andrew Moodie. Production starts January 19th .

The 7th and final episode of the animated series Z-Squad is delivered to Nelvana. All 26 episodes are now complete! Thank you Sean Jeffery for the intelligent comments and always raising the bar.
It was a great opportunity and creatively challenging to be part of the series. I look forward to more opportunities with Nelvana and, if possible, with Sean.

Production on the Thames Valley District School Board dating violence video is complete. The 12 page script was shot in 12 hrs thanks to the professionalism of our cast and crew and special kudos to DOP Chris Mably, 1st AD, Dave Bene, producers Jeff Boulton and David Cormican and a very special thank you to the very talented Natalie Forcier – thanks for keeping it real! Post production should be complete by end of August.

Production of Missed Opportunities. Directed by Alan Powell, DOP’d by 20 yr. Veteran Chris Kelly (currently shooting The Hour for CBC)the 100% volunteer cast and crew from London, Ontario seamlessly shot through a 29 page script in 2 days - finishing an hour and a half ahead of schedule. The secret? 5 locations – all within close proximity of each other, simple set-ups with 2 lighting kits and a crew of 4. A well-rehearsed cast – two scenes were shot in one continuous take! One veteran cameraman, an organized director/producer with an equally organized 1st AD and above all, professional attitudes from all involved!!

Across the Hall is officially selected for the 21st annual NSI FilmExchange Canadian Film Festival in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Festival dates: February 28 – March 4, 2007.

October 11, 2006

Across the Hall is selected for the 13th Regensburg Short film Week in Germany. Out of 2550 short films submitted for the international competition, Across the Hall was the only Canadian film out of the 59 selected. Funded by the National Film Board of Canada and the Ontario Arts Council, the film had its Canadian premiere at the 26th annual Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia in September 2006.
